Jenny Saville is a YBA whose work pays tribute to the painterly mark making styles of Francis Bacon and Lucien Freud. Saville explores themes of disfigurement, distortion, abstraction and deformity centre largely on the female figure especially her own figure/portrait. Her work has inspired our BTEC Level 3 project entitled ‘Surfaces’.

These closely documented monochrome photographs create minimalist compositions that focus an intense scrutiny on the natural forms. Karl Blossfeldt is one of our featured artists in our Level 2 Natural Forms Project and our learners have responded to Blossfeldt’s work through Photography, Textiles, Printing and Painting.
